Social Hero
With a sound as brash and high-octane as their native New York City, Social Hero is poised to assume the role of this generationís foremost rock revivalists.
We look at the last ten years of rock and roll as similar to the hair-metal era, when it went weird in the 80s, says lead singer/guitarist David Lloyd. ìThat was cool, but weíre trying to bring back the emotion from even ten years before that, when dudes didn't have perms and just rocked.î
Founded in 1998 by Lloyd and bassist Brandon Lotti, Social Hero is a devout rockerís ideal mix of classic, metal, alternative and progressive rock.
It was a combination made tighter when guitarist Griffin Lotti returned to New York in 2007, and again in February 2009 when drummer Derek Schildkraut joined the group.
When we all play together weíve got really high energy, says Lloyd. ìThe audience comes into play with the energy. Really, anybody whoís giving off energy helps add to the total level, and Derekís got the highest energy level of any drummer weíve ever played with. And he kicks ass!î
Social Hero has a taste for power-pop hooks, crunchy guitars and occasionally arty embellishments.
